Saint Elizabeth of Thuringia

Saint Elizabeth of Thuringia (1207-1231) is revered as a symbol of active charity. Her name day is November 19th. She wears a very elaborately sewn costume. The bread in the basket on the forbidden path from the Wartburg to the poor is covered by roses. (A legend says: The gifts were turned into roses when they were checked.)
